Sunday at the movies - Spiderwick Chronicles
We took the kids to go see the Spiderwick Chronicles yesterday and followed it up with some fun at Chuck E. Cheese. The movie was good, a little scary for kids Natalie's age, but Donovan loved every minute.
Crawfordville Festival 2008
As you already know, Donovan won the contest for his class for selling the most tickets, so he was involved in the opening ceremony for his school's annual festival. He had been excited all week, but when the time came, he wasn't looking too excited. After the opening ceremony, we (Donovan and I) worked the booth for his class, he was a BIG help. Then we went around to the other booths, at the end of the trip, the kids got to try the lemon straws. It is where they take a soft peppermint stick and cut a hole in a lemon, apparently after you leave the peppermint in the lemon for a little while, you can bite off the end of the peppermint stick and suck the juice through, like a straw. The kids really loved it.

Representative Donovan
Thanks to everyone who bought tickets for Donovan's school festival. He sold the most tickets for his class and was selected to represent his class at the festival on Saturday, April 26th at 2pm.
Weekend for BBQs
We spent the weekend visiting with friends and family. The kids had a great time on Saturday while we had a cookout at Ronnie and Lisa's, there were a pile of kids for them to play with and by the time we headed home they were exhausted. Sunday we got together with Uncle Bill, Auntie Chell and Riley, and Uncle Rich so he could get a break from all the girls. The kids really enjoyed having their own eating area in the fort. Natalie and Riley are having such fun with one another.

Dan's 30th Birthday, Day 3
We ended the birthday celebration with a night out without the kids. We got together with our closest friends and headed out for the Comedy Zone. The comedian was great, except for an awkward moment with a lady in the front who kept talking. We left there and headed for AJ's Sports Bar and Grill, we hung out there for an hour or so and the band kicked off up stairs, they were pretty good, couldn't tell you who they were, as you can tell from the pictures, we were having alot of fun by this point. We left there and headed back to the county, finishing the night off at Dux. It was great being able to spend time with everyone and to cut loose a little.

Dan's 30th Birthday, Day 2
We celebrated Daniel's birthday with my Mom and Dad, Uncle Bill, Auntie Chell and Riley at Mori's Japanese Steakhouse on Friday night. The kids all had so much fun. They got to try to eat with chopsticks and seemed to really enjoy the hibachi, after the initial firing up of the grill.

Dan's 30th Birthday, Day 1
What better way to spend your birthday than with two of your favorite people at the beach. Daniel, Donovan and Natalie spent all day at St George. They were all exhausted by the time they got home, collecting seashells, chasing waves and looking through the state park nature trail for alligators.

Visit with Bumpa
We have really enjoyed our visit with Bumpa. He will be stopping back in next weekend which will be really nice. We stopped by on Friday for a visit and we had a family dinner on Saturday at the Landing, thanks so much to Rhonda and her staff, the service was great and the food was delicious, watch out for those fried pickles, they are addictive, at least that is what I hear, me not eating pickles and all. It has been great catching up and hearing about how everyone has been doing. Donovan and Cara are excited for the opportunity to go stay with Bumpa for a couple of weeks this summer, and to escape the Florida heat too I'm sure. Hopefully we will have more time to visit this weekend too.

FSU Baseball Double Header
Today we took in an FSU Double Header against University of Virgina. We had tickets for the little league appreciation game, but Saturday's game was rained out so they offered a double header on Sunday if you had tickets for either game, so we went. Joe, Melanie, Noah and Micah joined us, and what fun it was. The kids were great, considering we were at the ballpark for almost 6 hours. We ate, we cheered and FSU won both games in extra innings. Daniel caught a t-shirt during the second game, one kid got upset saying that he couldn't believe they threw out a t-shirt to a guy with a Gator hat on, but Donovan was really excited he got one. We were also able to stop by and see Papa Frank and Nana Carol since Papa Frank just got back from down south fishing and Nana Carol worked on her flower beds, which are beautiful as ever. Then we stopped by to see Bumpa one more time before he and Cara headed south to see Uncle Daniel, yes, Daniel has an Uncle Daniel, kind neat huh?

Surviving the Tornado
This afternoon was pretty scary for the Whaley family. We had a really bad thunderstorm come through. Natalie and I were at home, we got some heavy rain and some rough winds, I noticed at one point rain coming down from the east on one side of the house and coming down from the west on the other side of the house, that was pretty weird, but other than some heavy wind that tore the screen on Daniel's shed more, we got through with no damages. Donovan and Daniel had the real fright. They were stopping by Grandmother Pam's and Grandpa David's house and a tornado came through the back yard. Grandpa David and Daniel got Donovan and Cara in the house and in the bathroom until the tornado got through, but they had a little more damage than we did. Their swimming pool was airborne at one point and the carport for Pam's car was dragged across her car and torn up, luckily the car didn't have any evidence of damage. Everyone is safe and sound though and that is all you can really ask for.
